About four miles south-east of Glasgow, this scheme provides a strong community focus for the town of Rutherglen. The centre comprises a main enclosed shopping centre with 35 tenants and an adjoining, high-street-facing, eight-unit retail parade. There’s also a rooftop car park for visitors.
Buying the site in 2010, we undertook a cosmetic refurbishment of the scheme, including a full rebranding, to provide a modern shopping environment to serve the local community.
Our understanding of the shopping requirements of the local community meant that we could position the scheme appropriately and create a quality retail environment to serve its customers. It is essential in this type of environment to offer that blend of national and independent retails and restaurant operators. Visitor numbers have remained consistent every year, despite falling footfall numbers according to the national statistics, indicating strong loyalty for the scheme within the local community.
